Please lie by my side, let this wind speak Of hope and life and the will to live. I've been swallowed by self-pity And drowned in self hate, too
Blind to realise that life cannot wait. For me, for you to decide whether We act or we don't; we swim or drown or Lie in bed, sweeping tears of our crown
That martyrdom gifted and kept us uplifted. Until we realise that time just ghostly Passes by, our wasting and existing Nothing but hopelessly crying;
Oceans of tears and wondrous woe To anyone who'll listen, caring or not. An

Nothing can prepare the war inside Our mindset - it's ballistic and bellows The deafening trumpet sounds of aeons
Passing and coming, growing and dying.
This ever eclectic song surrounding Light with darkness, swallows the Fragile membranes of human frigidity And their only freezing fingers.
We hold ourselves saviours in this world
Of evil heroes, and ever more sainted villains Until we reach our ideal pedestal and share Every ripple on the waters of innocent lunacy.
But no-one can reach my altitude; This echelon at the p

Oh we built this land by hand, by hand I saw its bulging mountains and winds Blowing the leaves along the ground Landing softly on lily-tipped lakes.
Oh we built this land by hand, by hand I touched its vision of purity and smelled The blood, the sweat, the tears generated By generations of clockwork cogs.
Oh we built this land by hand, by hand I felt the rushing breeze fly by as the Water-Carrier carried its great responsibility; The Atlas for our society, our pride.
Oh we built this land by hand, by hand &n

As we look beyond that horizon, we shall revere Times and places that became and left this road we walk. These boots become more beaten, this nostalgia It hurts a little now - knowing that we shall never
See those wonderful faces again, such love and prosperity, Inspiration and power all collected inside a fate That each of us has decided - those trees, they seem Greener, the sunshine, much brighter and water
That bit colder, flowing like that carpet of velvet. No, the times like these, we shall never see again, And the future looks that little bi

the stuff of dreams, that soft collision of gently worn ghosts and the fraying edges of summer nights, pools under the sky like the backwater of heaven. Rifts of melodies, caught round your fingers, court and spark the softest demons - full of poetry and sweet oaths; and dark stars, bright as crickets, glister with agate against the window. You wear me like linen and cloves, fine smoke from storms and the echo of midnight, caught under your spell.
| Another Goddamn Poet! 18 years of age and a guy who writes - to be perfectly honest, I find no other activity more enriching than writing poetry (apart from maybe playing guitar). My writing consists of 90% poetry with some other styles of writing (Haiku, Mini-Saga). I don't really write prose, I find that I could read a whole novel and feel just as uplifted by a 5 stanza, open poem! Unfortunately my artistic talents don't extend much further; drawing/painting/sketching/photography and graphical expressions are absent. Please don't hesitate to comment on the work, I'm a nice guy and all criticism is gladly welcome! |
